UNITED NW MN INFOCON Schools Provide Web based Technology Instruction for Teachers and Administrators November 15, 2006
The United Northwest Minnesota INFOCON an information and communications consortium of public and non-public schools in Northwest Minnesota has partnered with Classroom Connect to pilot a special learning project for teacher and administrators. The project will offer the schools Connected University which is a web delivered professional development experience in the area of computing skills and technology integration to subject- specific courses. The school personnel will be able to work independently on their own time wherever they wish by logging on from any internet connected computer 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
?This pilot study will allow our rural schools another opportunity to train teachers and administrators in our schools and therefore assist our students and learners to continue to become engaged learners through technology and its integration into our curriculums," according to Fr. Tim Bushy, coordinator of the INFOCON.
The participating consortium members include: Climax- Shelly Public Schools, Red Lake Falls Public Schools, St. Phillip?s School- Bemidji, MN, Cathedral School- Crookston, MN, Holy Rosary School- Detroit Lakes, MN, Sacred Heart Elementary School- East Grand Forks, MN, St. Michael?s School- Mahnomen, MN, St. Joseph?s School- Moorhead, MN, St. Joseph?s School- Red Lake Falls, MN, St. Bernard?s School- Thief River Falls, MN, Sacred Heart High School- East Grand Forks, MN.
INFOCON has as one of its primary goals to provide technology training and development experiences for teachers of participating schools. Another goal of the consortium is to build an educational coalition among the schools, communities and other organizations in order to maximize technology resources and human and financial resources, according to Fr. Bushy.
